Looks like the workstations with the problem users try to first connect to
the server through CIFS. Furthermore, the users probably aren't configured
for universal password so that they don't have a password for CIFS, or at
least not the same. So the worstation tries to transparently login to the
server through CIFS and this triggers an intruder lockout.
There are a couple of things you can do that might improve the situation:

1) Identify the "action" that triggers the intruder lockout and consider
using a different way to achieve the same thing.

2) Move to universal password for all users

3) Install the UNC path filter patch for the SP5 client:
