OSX 10.6 connect to Novell 5.1

No chance I'm afraid - we were lucky to get a patch for NetWare 6.5
given that General Support for it ends in March next year and for NW5.1
ended four years ago.

This is one of those situations where if you want current support you
will need to upgrade to NetWare 6.5 (be quick!) or migrate to OES2 SP1/2
Linux (for Mac AFP support).
