NOWS upgrade

I've been told by our vendor that I need to install/upgrade a NOWS update on our existing NW65SBS server to take this to SP8. Like to know is this true and will our server still be NetWare or is this some upgrade to the Linux version?

Also is NOWS a linux platform or NetWare or a choice of either?
