Novell Linux Management - namcd freezes system
Hi,
I'm having trouble with namcd, the eDirectory Novell Account Management
caching daemon, which stops working and therefore causing annoying hang-ups
very frequently on all tested machines in my network.
Logs are saying
nds_nss_read_reply: AF_UNIX read() - no data
nds_nss_GetPwdbyUid: failed to init socket, status = -1
nds_nss_GetGroupbyGid: failed to init socket, status = -1
nds_nss_GetGroupsbyMember: failed to init socket, status = -1
several times each in this order. After encountering the first message UID
retrieval, access to system resources and logins in particular aren't
possible anymore until reboot or restarting namcd.
My config (/etc/nam.conf, undisclosed version):
base-name=o=novell
admin-fdn=cn=admin,o=novell
proxy-user-fdn=cn=proxy,o=novell
proxy-user-pwd=passwd
preferred-server=10.10.10.1
num-threads=5
schema=rfc2307
enable-persistent-cache=YES
user-hash-size=211
group-hash-size=211
persistent-cache-refresh-period=1800
persistent-cache-refresh-flag=all
create-home=yes
type-of-authentication=2
certificate-file-type=der
ldap-ssl-port=636
ldap-port=389
support-alias-name=no
support-outside-base-context=yes
10.10.10.1 is a netware sp3 (oes) server with edirectory 8.7.3.7. However
switching to his pal, a linux oes sp2 server, seems to have no effect on
this issue.
Thanks in advance and with kind regards,
