Maxima on SLED 10

There are a couple issues with SLED on my dual-boot notebook, perhaps someone's comments will make them go away.

The mousepad/touchpad is erratic. First slow, then lightning fast, then unresponsive to taps, then jumpy, etc. Is there any cure for this?

The wireless connection will evaporate periodically; is stable in Windows at the same location.

Also, am trying to install Maxima. {excuse but there does not seem to be any place in the forum for questions about applications beyond those shipped with SUSE.} There is no Maxima ready-made RPM for SUSE, so will config and make Maxima, but it wants lisp. Can anyone point me to where to find the correct lisp?
