Default Re: MySQL and OpenOffice

Sorry delay my reply to your post, which appreciate .

After installed MySQL using YaST am able to do thing from the Gnome Terminal however like use through OpenOffice.org.

* NEED learn how write script to access MySQL then do searches find am using regularly.

Installed MySQL through YaST certainly hoped all things needed to use there.

Being NON technical, am nervous/reluctant to download and install things not within YaST.

(May soon be upgrading to SLED 11.* )

OpenOffice.org - HELP - MySQL databases (Base) shows :

MySQL Connection
Specifies the options for MySQL databases.
Connect using ODBC (Open Database Connectivity)
Connects to an existing ODBC data source that was set on a system level.
Connect using JDBC (Java Database Connectivity)
Connects to an existing JDBC data source that was set on a system level.
The next wizard page depends on your choice of ODBC or JDBC:
ODBC Connection
JDBC Connection
Authentication
Database Wizard

the MySQL JDBC connector does NOT appear specified it in my ClassPath within OpenOffice (Tools: Options: OpenOffice.org: Java: 'Class Path' button),

My OpenOffice Java options only shows
[Y] Sun Microsystems Version 1.4.1_19
[N] Free Software Foundation Version 1.4.2

* Q: NEED I still download and install the "MySQL JDBC connector" so that it appears in this above list ?

Already in openoffice - Tools - options
OpenOffice.org BASE
Connections
Databases

showing under "Connections" are :

"Driver name " Pool Timeout
com.sun.star.comp.sdbc.ODBCDriver No -
com.sun.star.comp.sdbc.JDBCDriver No -
com.sun.star.comp.sdbc.calc.ODriver No -
com.sun.star.comp.sdbc.dbase.ODriver No -
com.sun.star.comp.sdbc.evoab.OEvoabDriver No -
com.sun.star.comp.sdbc.flat.ODriver No -
com.sun.star.comp.sdbc.kab.Driver No -
com.sun.star.comp.sdbcx.adabase.ODriver No -
com.sun.star.sdbcx.comp.hsqldb.Driver No -
org.openoffice.comp.drivers.MySQL.Driver No -
com.sun.star.comp.sdbc.MozabDriver No -
com.sun.star.somp.sdbc.ado.ODriver No -

Driver=org.openoffice.comp.drivers.MySQL.Driver

* Q: Is this same or equivalent to the MySQL JDBC connector you mentioned ?
