I know I'm supposed to use AutoYast for installs that are going to be exactly the same across numerous PCs. I'm not entirely comfortable with it yet though, and there are times where I don't have a network setup or I have third party RPM's installed and configured that I'd like to replicate on other PCs without a ton of scripting.
To me, if I configure one machine the way I like it, and I'm going to build another XX PC's the same way - it would be real handy to be able to do this with a DVD that I've created for the purpose and then customize it either though scripting or manually after the image is copied onto the disk.
What about using something like PartImage?
Main Page - Partimage
Assuming hardware is exactly the same on each PC, on Window$ if we do this with something like Norton's ghost, there's a list of Windows OS items that need to be customized post install (assuming for a second that we are NOT using the image utilities like sysprep, etc.).
Is there a list of items/areas that need to be customized for a Suse 10 image install using a utility like PartImage (or maybe dd if the image is small enough)? Has someone done something similar with success?
I'd appreciate any thoughts on this...
