VMware Workstation - Unable to build kernel module
I am pretty much new to Linux - I have a lot to learn. I have SLED 10.2 on my workstation, the kernel is 2.6.16.6030.39.3 - I am trying to install VMware-Workstation 6.5.2 onto it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times. I keep getting the VMware Kernel Module Updater that comes up when I try to start VWware Workstation. A dialog box comes up and states that " Before you can run VMware Workstation, several modules must be compiled and loaded into the running kernel, I click on install and it asks for the admin's password, then seems to process, and then it comes up with the following error: Unable to build kernel module. See log file /tmp/vmware-root/setup-27705.log for details. Here is what the log states:
Aug 17 09:48:11.842: app| Log for VMware Workstation pid=27705 version=6.5.2 build=build-156735 option=Release

This is all gibberish to me - as there are no errors that I understand. I have googled and googled this problem. I have found references to applying a vmware-any-any-update115 - and have tried that also, but it fails. The other folks who have the exact same versions of everything have not had any troubles with this installation on their SLED machines. I am beginning to think that I am jinxed.....Can anyone give me an idea of what I can do - I really need to get VMWare installed on to this workstation. Everything else seems to run fine on this linux workstation. thank you in advance for any help.
