On the whole, Novell aren't big on the updating stuff during the life cycle of SLES. E.g. SLED 10 was released with KDE 3.5.1 and it has remained at 3.5.1 despite subsequent 3.5.x releases. Though sometimes stuff does get updated. E.g. SLED 10 had Firefox 1.5, SLED 10 SP 1 had Firefox 2. OpenOffice has been updated to version 3, someone said they'd heard that an update to 3.1 is on the way. A PHP might happen, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
