Submit an enhancement to Apple, and then use a site that doesn't require
their technology (meaning, anything else). YouTube is your friend,
perhaps, and I usually find what I need there since Apple can't keep up.
I also have VLC installed so I can watch most things except QuickTime
(maybe it can do that too, but I've never bothered to try) and the Flash
plugin does everything else.
As an example the X-Files trailer is in QuickTime format... on one site
anyway. YouTube has it here too:
