Default giant kcore file

Hi all,

Can anybody take a shot at what I screwed up?
I noticed this file while backing up:

/var/lib/ntp/proc # ls -l kcore
-r-------- 1 root root 281474975666176 Sep 2 19:08 kcore

So I look in proc:
# ls -l /proc/kcore
-r-------- 1 root root 281474975666176 Sep 2 19:08 /proc/kcore

"file" says that it's a binary. It's too big to fit on our
drives, so I was thinking maybe a sparse file.

What did I break in ntp?

Thanks,
Dan Martin
