Restore Arcserve backup media

We are currently in the process of migrating to SLES/OES2 from Netware. Our current backup software is Arcserve 11.1. We will need the ability to restore Arcserve tapes with a different software. Does anyone know if this possible or does Arcserve use a proprietary format?

TIA for thoughts/advice.
