Default problems with it8212 raid 0

i have it8212 controller in raid 0 mode with 2 hds of common volume 389Gb
i use it for daily backup of 225Gb
after day or two of usage massive breaks and /dev/hda node disappears.

kernel: 2.6.16.54-0.2.3-smp #1 SMP Thu Nov 22 18:32:07 UTC 2007 x86_64
(on SLES 10 SP1+online updates)

dmesg on booting (disk still works):

does all this mean i have broken hw ?
or is this driver issue and could be fixed ?
or should i use another raid controller, more compatible with linux ?
