Extend/resize harddisk?

Hi all,

I have a sles11-vmware-guest-system with two harddisk:
- /dev/sda
- /dev/sdb
The harddisk /dev/sdb has 2GB space. This whole 2GB are partitioned as a LVM-Partition (/dev/sdb1). Now I extended this device /dev/sdb to 5GB.

How can I now allocate the free 3GB to the exisiting LVM-Partitions (/dev/sdb) without creating a second partition? I tried with gparted or partimage....but no success.
