Default SLES10 SP2 build issues

We use a custom autoyast/pxe/tftp/nfs/http install server for all our Linux installations. With previous SLES10/9 SP updates, it was just a matter of adding the service pack directory, adding the new linux/initrd files to the pxe loader, and adding a new pxe menu entry.

However; with SP2 we have not been able to get i586 or AMD64 systems to install. The initial install process goes well but we have the following problems on reboot.

i586
System reboots fine, except any attempt to login as root is denied. Even just entering a root login and pressing enter fails. You don't even get the password prompt.

AMD64
System reboots and the only option in the grub menu is floppy.

The odd thing about this is that both builds (i586/AMD64) are using the same AutoYAST control file. The control file works fine on SLES10 GA/SP1 systems in production, so it shouldn't be an issue.

I've checked all the iso's/binaries for corruption and they are perfectly fine. We do SP1 -> SP2 upgrades without issue with the same sources.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is anyone else experiencing similar issues?
