Default Repair reporting error in /boot/grub/device.map

The problem is that I can't get it to boot properly when I have arrays on both RAID controllers.

The hardware i'm using is the Intel SSR212MC2 (Intel® Storage Server SSR212MC2 - Overview).

There are two RAID controllers in this machine, one SRCSAS144E (Intel® RAID Controller SRCSAS144E - Overview), and a second which is on-board with the motherboard, an S5000PSL (Intel® Server Board S5000PSL - Overview).

If I don't have any arrays on the Hardware RAID controller (SRCSAS144E), then SLES installs and boots perfectly. The problem occurs when there is at least one array on SRCSAS144E along with an array on the Software RAID controller on the motherboard.

I have to load drivers to have support software RAID on the motherboard (Intel® ESRT-2 SATA & SAS Software RAID Driver for Linux*).

At that point the system can't get passed GRUB loading stage1.5 (or stage2).

When I go into the repair with the SLES DVD it says that my device.map is incorrect and it won't tell me anything else. It will tell me the same thing if I do "Start from scratch", and then "Propose new configuration" which I would assume wipes everything out and starts over.

I tried to switch to LILO through the repair, but it comes up with an error stating that it can't fine /sbin/lilo.

I'm going to try to install from scratch and switch the loader at install time instead of during the repair.
