SUSE UPDATE

I am a new Babie here.

My current system is:

SUSE Enterprise server (32 bit) version 9.
Kernel:3.2.1
2.6.5-7.191-bigsmp

I never did any updates before, I had following questions:

1) are there any necessary updates for my system ( my system install a IBM
Content Manager software) and these updates won't interfare other settings?
Shall I use the online update options to update them all?

2) I am experience some problems that I cannot view the documents and
import the documents from IBM content manager database), My guessing is
that I might need to do some update for the operation system, Base on the
