upgrade from sp1 to sp2 fails
Hello folks. I've seen several other people say they've had variations of this problem. Upgrade from sp1 to sp2 (just plain SLES sp1, no OES involved) fails or, more properly, just sort of stops. I've tried from YOU and rug, same results happen. (I'm following the standard upgrade docs from the knowledge base. And our hosts are registered with a valid product license key.)
1) the libzypp packages apply fine
2) all the outstanding sp1 packages apply fine (with reboot if necessary)
3) move-to-sles10-sp2 patch *Seems* to apply fine (or sometimes goes mostly fine but does show a 'curl' error.)
4) But after that, I can't perform the next step because (in YOU) the slesp2o-sp2_online and product-sles10-sp2 packages just aren't there. Or (with rug) the next command in the docs, rug up -t patch, does nothing and comes back
"ERROR: No actions to perform."
In another post Haidinger suggested re-runing 'suse_register' and 'rug refresh' as a fix, but that didn't do any good for me unfortunately (goatbadger said it didn't work either, in a recent post). Seems (?) like process just doesn't get the host subscribed to the SLES10-SP2-Online catalog so nothing gets past that point.
I'd be grateful for any help anybody could provide.
I kinda can't believe that Novell/SuSE hasn't resolved this yet. They keep releasing new libzypp patches with vague references to bug fixes. But I don't consider that they've really even acknowledged the issue.
Thanks,
-paul
