Had the same problem. I found TID 7004278, it seems there was already the same/similar problem with the update from 2 to 3 on SLES10SP2 64 bit systems.

Here is what I entered to resolve the problem with rug:

rug install MozillaFirefox-branding-SLED-3.5-1.4.2.i586
