Hard drive partitioning?

I have read through the docs and it Recommends 7GB for the Host OS and 10GB for each VM but it leaves it at that.

I am planning on running OES2 with a NSS volume in a VM which needs Linux LVM. So do I :

1) Setup the partitions for the Host system and leave the rest until it is time to build the VM's or
2) Do I have to partition the rest of the drives as one big partition(?type) and the VM's will each use a part of that or
3) something even more strange and wonderful :) ???
