Troubles creating a Windows VM
I had already created a Windows VM on this host, but found that the /disk0 allocation would not work well for me, limited space on my root partition. I decided to create a new volume, not mounted on the host, /dev/sdb5 with 64Gb. I am creating the VM from the YaST Create a Virtual Machine wizard. I have one disk 64GB Hard Disk (phy:/dev/sdb5), and my installation source (an NFS Mount) listed as phy:/helpdesk.mydom.org:/usr/share/IMAGES/W2003_64.
I click OK to create the VM and after a minute or four, I get the following error:
Failed to start the VM.
Error: Device 5632 (vbd) could not be connected. Hotplug Scrips not working.
Usage: xm start <DomainName>
Start a Xend managed domain
-p, -paused Do not unpause domain after starting it
-c, -console_autoconnect Connect to the console after the domain is created
**End Error**
SLES 10SP2 (I was SP1 when I built the first WindozVM) and I do have the Virtual Machine Drivers installed.
Additional factors:
I moved this host to another network and there is a moderately busy T1 between this host and the NFS filesystem.
I took care to clean off the references to the original Windoz VM, and to apply a different hostname to this new VM.
For the Installation source I was unable to connect to the NFS with nfs://helpdesk.mydom.org/usr/share/IMAGES/W2003_64, but I was able to use the NFS Client in YaST to mount it ro. I then specified the installation source as phy:/helpdesk.mydom.org/usr/share/IMAGES/W2003_64. This appears to work, as I am able to browse the share.
I am trying to figure out which tail to chase.
