Some "Niggles" in the ISM March 2008 Utopia
Chris requested me to post the problems we encountered when running the March 2008 Utopia on the stand at the InfoSec 2008 Exhibition.
So here are 6 problems we encountered:
1) In the utopia tree, the President of the company (Bill/Jim?) Miller reports to a junior manager (APalani) and so navigation around the Org Chart is circular. The President shouldn't really report to any other object
2) The UserApp PRD for Equipment terminates with an error after the provisioner accepts the request. The PR is fine when it comes from the requestor's manager, but after the next stage, it seems to error out. This is true for mobile phone, PDA, laptop etc
3) There are no SecureLogin Plugins in the iManager 2.7
4) There are no SecureLogin Tools in the file systems
Comment: Without 3 or 4, there is no way to show a customer the cleverness of being able to inherit SecureLogin AppDefs and Policies from the tree
5) On the XP Machine, the Novell Client erros out when not logging in with Workstation Only. If the demonstrator attermpts to log on as a new employee into both AD and eDir at the same time, there is an exception thrown by the Novell Client
6) When a newly created person logs into the workstation (with Workstation Only in the Novell Client), the XP machine takes over 30 minutes to deploy the desktop - it just sits with the pale blue screen and no icons for at least 30 minutes. This was with VMWare Server running on a SUSE Linux Server with 8GB or RAM and only the IDV and W2003 and XP Vitrual Macines powered up.
7) A minorish concern is that the Password Policy is set to give a hint for Forgotten Password, rather than Password Reset. This means that when a newly created user logs into UserApp for the very first time, s/he is prompted for Forgotten Password Challenge responses, but is nott prompted for the hint because the system assumes a hint already exists. As a result the system can't show a hint when the Forgotten Password link is clicked. Explaining this to a customer gets a bit convoluted, whereas with a Password Reset instead of hint, the customer understands straight away
