Image old chassis to new chassis

My boss has an older EIDE based Dell computer. He is getting a brand new SATA based Dell PC and I would like to take an image of his old computer and place it on his new one. I have unsuccessful thus far. As soon as the new PC comes up with the image, it blue screens. I can only assume it is HAL related.

Possible or am I dreaming?
