Can a ZEN App both open and close an exe as a Launch Script?

As part of our Office 2007 rollout, we need to makes specific registry edits after the installation App runs, but these only take effect AFTER Word ( and PowerPoint) have been opened at least once after the initial install.
I can build an app with the registry settings and it OPENS Word, for example, but the registry part of the App object does not launch until Word is once again closed or "exited".

Also, if this is possible, can the same app open and/or close two executables, or need I build two separate app objects?
