compaq d51c imaging failure

Hi,
Zenworks 6 imaging has been working fine on these machines. Trying to
switch to Zenworks 7 we are having problems on this machine type.

Take an image of the working XP NTFS partition (only partition).
wipe disk
restore image
Machine will not boot from HD.
flashing _ top left of the screen - The files are in existence on the hard
disk but it appears that the files are in a different position on the
drive to the original.
Even repairing the mbr of the drive from an xp boot cd doesn’t get it back
on its feet.

HD is WD400. Tried both disk addressing schemes (LBA Assisted & Bit Shift)

Any theories. Anyone?
