Not recognizing SATA on Inspiron 1501

I'm having problems with Zenworks and the Inspiron 1501. I'm using
Zenworks 7.1 and have the 2.6.5 Kernel in the Zenworks Linux distro. The
Inspiron 1501 uses an AMD processor.

The problem is: the SATA hard drive is not being recognized.

We also have an Inspiron 6400, which has an Intel processor. (They are
both try-and-buys.) The 6400 works as it should, but of course it is $200
more.

So we are motivated to getting the 1501 to work since we are looking for
our new standard laptop.

Anyone have any ideas?
