File Recovery After Reimage

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know of some software which can recover files from a disk once it has been reimaged?
The scenario goes like this;
users laptop playing up
member of IT department decides reimaging is best way to solve the problem
after reimage user notes not all files were backed up including all of this years work ! (nothing like saving data to the network - Ed)
Im under the impression that once reimaged its gone but if anyone can help that would be fantastic!
