booting image CD with Optiarc AD-7170A drive

I have Imaging boot CD version ZDM 7.0.1 with HP5.

after choosing MANUAL from the boot options I get "Could not find the
ZEMworks Installation CD.
Activating manual setup program..." it never finishes booting.

I can (sort of) boot that same machine using PXE. I say sort of because it
fails to detect the intel 82566 NIC but at least it boots to the BASH prompt
whereas booting from CD never gets that far.

I know the NIC is a separate issue but I need to solve the booting from CD
problem first. anyone else have this issue and know of a fix?
