bootcd mod issue

trying to follow the CPIO commands to add a driver into the CD (as per cool solutions).

I get to the uncompile with the "cpio -iv < ../initrd" part and am seeing:

archive header has reverse byte-order

I have tried the -s and -S options of cpio

I am using SLED 10sp2

I am wondering if this is the wrong kernel version or.....
