Pxe Locks up at hardware detection

trying to image up a new machine.
shortly after downloading linux and initrd files and starting to boot up linux gets to:
"starting hardware detection"
"activating usb devices...udevd-event[2201]: Create_node: symlink (../../sda, /dev/disk/by-path/) failed: file Exists"
then the Num, scroll and caps lock lights all flash once and PXE seems to lockup with a Flashing cursor under above message..

PXE version is 7 sp1 ir1
tried CDboot.iso from 7sp1 ir3a same results

any ideas??
