Screen blanking on WinXP workstations?

In fact some of our workstations migrated from Win98SE to WinXP.
This symptom has shown up on ALL WinXP installations across a variety of
harware, including some that were perfectly able to screen blank under
Win98SE.

Most current models (226 of them ) are common Intel chipset on-board.
Some are MSI on-board (30 of them)several models.
Some are separate cards (various 20 ) - I will have to look up the build
sheets.
Four different models of Acer Notebooks
Two different models of Toshiba Notebooks ....

Being hardware-specific does not appear likely.
No WinXP workstation, across a wide range of hardware, is able (or has ever
been able) to screen blank under remote control from Zen !!
