Database Records - Query

ZFD 4 . I frequently export the data to an Excel file. I've noticed that the
number of records exported has dropped from the previous time I exported the
data. How are records deleted from the database ? What would cause the
records to have been deleted automatically? Only a few are missing . Thanks
for any replies.
