Default Hardware / Software info in ZLM 6.6.1

I've installed a test ZLM 6.6.1 server and have it and 1 NLD9 client
connected to it. Like other users in the forum, I'm having issues when
trying to view the software of the NLD9 machine. I can view the software
of the server just fine but not on the NLD9 client. However, the hardware
from both machines shows up as well as disk mounts. I've tried all the
suggestions posted on how to fix this problem, but it still won't work.

This has led me to wonder about what's going on in the background. I'm
assuming that each machine connected to the ZLM server sends information
(including hardware and software data) to the server which gets stored in
the postgres database. Then, the next time I click on the Software tab for
a machine, the database dumps those contents via a PHP script. I'm also
assuming that install transactions will not work since the server cannot
determine software dependencies (since there is no software data
available). If this is how ZLM works, then why would a remote machine be
able to insert hardware but not software data? If my theory is true, then
I'm having a hard time believing that my problems are network related.

Any thoughts?
