I am wondering if some of the components of the OES SP1 installation are

I have a mixed SLES9/NetWare 5.1 edir tree. I have set up an OES
Linux installation server using the SP1 ISO's (some of these appear to
have identical MD5 sums to the release version so I have used the release
versions in those instances) and the original netInstall.sh build script.

I have installed a server over HTTP from the installation server and all
appeared to work fine. I then ran the "Novell Samba" install from YaST and
it generated the error "The installation of Samba failed to install all
the required RPMS". I (not knowing a whole lot about YaST) noticed that
the file sles9/CD1/suse/setup/descr/novell-samba.sel on the installation
server contains the entries ...

.... which differs to the release version of OES's file. The rpm for
smbldap-tools doesn't appear to exist on the installation media anywhere.

I have found that copying a smb.conf file from a configured OES release-
version server, running the "Samba Server" YaST GUI and resetting the LDAP
admin password appears to get me up and running although I am missing all
the required plugins in iManager to fully admin samba and LUM, and my
server-W sambadomain object ends up in a context I'd prefer it not to.
However using namconfig to enable a user for LUM and using the Enable
Linux User for Samba iManager plugin is sufficient to get me working. All
of this is quite messy however and I was really just hoping to alert
someone to the possible presence of an installer bug (unless Im doing
something wrong).

The sample smb.conf file is included below with an example of enabling a
user for LUM using namconfig.

# smb.conf is the main Samba configuration file. You find a full commented
# version at /usr/share/doc/packages/samba/examples/smb.conf.SUSE if the
# samba-doc package is installed.
