With version 6.0, the new virtual appliance framework running on SuSE was a great change. Together with AAF being distributed as Docker images, this provides a lot of great possibilities. Question is: How are administrators with large amounts of AAF virtual appliances managing them?

We have a lot (maybe too many) appliances across three sites and when we need to ssh into make a change that needs to be done on each appliance, this gets tedious and is also error prone. We are tossing around the idea introducing a configuration management tool (Chef, Ansible, etc.).

For the record, we see the value because things such as vaadmin & root passwords, Docker proxy files, proxy settings via yast, time servers, etc. must be configured on each appliance.
