I believe in um 2000 or so that myself and Uwe had such a conversation
and I think he translated... I could be wrong if I am what else is new?

Yes, because it's completely impossible to translate.

The phrase "Du hast" (means "you have...." sounds exactly like "Du
hasst" ("you hate"). So it continues with "Du has(s)t mich", which
everybody would understand as "You hate me", but then when it comes to
"DU hast mich gefragt", it suddenly and unxepectedly changes meaning
completely ("You have asked me").
