Watched the premier of his new "reality" show last night. I thought it was
pretty hysterical. Surprised, because I was never a Chachi fan :)

Is this the one where he's supposedly looking for a wife now that he's over
40?

Yeah..in fact, the title is "Scott Baio is 45 and Single". He hires a
life-coach to find out why his relationships have all failed. It was really
quite amusing; better than most of that reality drivel.

Chachi was the original "jump the shark" :)

I'll have to try to catch it...can't understand why he'd want to get
married though...he's got bucks, can date anything he wants to, and could
have kids without losing what he's worked so hard to earn.

So some respect, after all she was "Richie's" sister.

It's funny...the therapist said he should go and discuss with his past
flames to see what he did to screw up their relationships. One of them, of
course, was Erin Moran (Joanie). She said he probably felt inadequate
because he was ,er, a small young man. As a teen he swore that that would
change, but her theory was that that still bothered him.

"Chachi" is a Korean word which means something that can cause great
embarrassment if said in the wrong circumstances. And "Joanie Loves
Chachi", when translated into Korean and said too quickly sounds like a
slur on Joanie's virtue, hence its premiere there was the most watched
in local TV ratings. ;)

Yes, and I think you need to learn to keep a really straight face when
you use geekspeak. It's much better to be taken for a geeky tech with no
personality than it is to be taken for smirking misogynist. E.g., if a
gastroenterologist were to tell you, while at the clinic, "Mr.
Calderwood, it appears that on your colonoscopy results you are free of
precancerous polyps and carcinomae, but I found evidence of your
cranio-maxillo-facial tissue in abundance," you would be upset and
concerned about medical and anatomical anomalies but wouldn't take it as
an affront to your character by the doctor. However, if some hoodlum
told you, "Yo! Jay! Your head is [excised offensive material]!!!" you
would be greatly offended and possibly compelled to respond in an
antisocial manner. Different context can make a big difference. ;)

Reportedly he didn't ride off into the sunset - Winkler is said to be
completely incapable of driving a motorcycle.

I mean that metaphorically; seems like they "jump the shark" when ratings
dip...but then they also add children, cousins, heartthrobs when ratings dip
too. Chachi was one of those.

But Fonzie surfing and jumping over a shark was where the term "jumping
the shark" came from. I think Chachi was there, but on the beach.

True...that's why I'm saying "Chachi" was the original "Jump the shark". A
desperate attempt to get/retain viewers.
