I found the following that directly on the server, doing an ldap search on object class inetOrgPerson I was not getting any responses back from eDirectory:

ldapsearch -x -h ipaddress "objectClass=inetOrgPerson" |grep -i username

In a Wireshark packet capture it was very clear that the LDAP search request was filtering on inetOrgPerson, and the DS trace confirmed this on the server side.

Looking closely at the LDAP Group Object assigned to the server the Class Map User--->inetOrgPerson was missing.

We added this class mapping to the LDAP Group Object and refreshed the nldap environment.

Contextless login is now working as intended.

I hope that this information is useful to somebody

Cheers,
