Gidday

Like many people I have been experiencing memory issues with Netware 6.5
for quite a whiles (every since we went to it :) ).
Currently I have two clustered servers that provide the majority of file
access for staff and students, these two boxes fall over around every two
weeks due to running out of memory to allocate.
Like the other 20 odd servers in the tree, these two servers run Netware
6.5 SP3 with nw65os3a.exe and n65nss3a.exe applied. Both servers run SAV
ver 9, Cluster Services, AFP, Galaxy IData Agent (backup). Server has 4
gigs memory.

I have read numerous TIDS (pretty much every TID that looks like it could
possbily be relevent over the past few months) to no real avail (well
given there have been so many problems with memory issues in 6.5 and
patches etc I'm sure I have gotten somewhere but still having issues).

Similar to another posting here, cache buffer memory decreases and
miscellaneous memory increases over time (constantly during the day). For
example, on 7th Sept (Server been up for 8 days), Cache Buffer Memory was
at 571 megs, Misc memory 2.2 gigs, Fragmented Kernel Space 896 megs. Now
on the 12th Sept , Cache Buffer Memory is at 161 megs, Misc memory 2.9
gigs, Fragmented Kernel Space 1.2 gigs. Server claims that logical
address space is running low on console, as does NRM (however Tune
Logical Address Space has no suggestions as this time....as you'll see
from Config.txt I have already made changes recommended for the User
Address Space however believe this has nothing at all to do with helping
my current problem). Eventually server will come up with Short Term
Memory Allocator errors most likely (prob very soon).

TSAFS ver is 6.50.11 Jan 13, 2005 (think this is the one that came with
SP3).

Load TSAFS /CacheMemoryThreshold=1

Version on this Server reports

Novell Nerware, V6.5 Support Pack 3 - CPR Release
Support Pack Revision 03
Server Version 5.70.03 May 23, 2005
Novell eDirectory Version 8.7.3.5 SMP
NDS Version 10551.78 January 22, 2005

Any help/suggestions would be great.

If someone says SP4 though I think I'll scream.

cheers
Drewen

; This is a sample of the slp configuration file.
; Two types of entries can be made: 1) DA entries, 2) SA Register
Filters.
;
; The DA entry allows static configuration of a known DA. This would be
used
; when the DA was out of multicast range and DHCP was not being used to
; configure the DA.
; The static DA configuration format is as follows 'DA <addr type>,
<addr>'.
; The first word must be "DA". The addr type is the address type.
Currently, only
; IPV4 has been defined. IPV6 will be defined in the future. The addr
is
; the address specified.
;
; The following is an example of a static DA.
; DA IPV4, 130.1.1.1
;
; The SA Register Filter would be used when the administrator wanted all
services
; of a specific service type being mapped to a single scope. For
example,
; the administrator wanted all "lpr" printers being registered to scope
"printer".
; The format is as follows: 'REGISTER TYPE "<type name>" to SCOPE
"<scope name>"'.
; The parser will look for REGISTER, TYPE, and SCOPE as keywords
followed by quote on
; a single line. Example:
;
; REGISTER TYPE "lpr" to SCOPE "eng"
;
; The last line must contain a line feed and char return. A semi-colon
specifies a
; comment.
