I have a Netware 6.5 SP 2 server that locks up when large files (anything 1
GB) are being written to a volume on the server. I can be copying files
between volumes, copying files from my local drive, or writing an image to
the server using Zenworks (using PXE). After about 1 or 2 minutes, the
server freezes and I am unable to navigate between screens. I have to power
cylce the server in order to get it back on line again. Nothing is written
to the abend log

Only one thing has changed that I imagine would be causing the problem I am
having. I installed an Adaptec 39160 card in the server last week to use
for back ups. Netware found the new card installed the proper drivers for
it. It worked for about a day or two until I started having problems with
the server locking up.

The server continued to freeze up like this for about two days before I
decided to remove the card. I commented out the ADPT160.HAM in the
Startup.ncf file to prevent drivers from loading and yanked the card.
Unfortunately, this did not solve the problem.

After pulling the card, I copied a 4 gig file from my ZEN volume to my SYS
volume. The server would freeze after about a minute. After power cycling
the server, I would go back to the SYS volume that I was copying to, and the
file had copied in its entirety.

Anyone have ideas as to how we can resolve this?

Thank you.
