You can set up Samba on Linux to act as a PDC (Windows Domain Controller),
and all the Windows clients will be able to log into it. Samba can then be
configured to use eDirectory for authentication.

Unfortunately, the hashing mechanisms used with Samba and eDirectory
passwords are incompatible, so you would have to enter everyone's password
twice as the system stands right now (assuming you're using SLES9 or some
Linux other than Open Enterprise Server).

However, according to the OES documentation, Open Enterprise Server has a
special version of Samba that can use the Universal Password feature of
eDirectory and not require re-entering of passwords.
