I've been trying to resolve an issue with CRON that I am experiencing.
I've been experimenting with placing CRON files in the /etc/cron.d
folder. Everything that I have read indicates that this should work and
the files within that directory are considered an extension of the
CRONTAB file. Yet I can move a working command to a file in /etc/cron.d
and the command never executes. I can see in the log where the file is
loaded by CRON but I find no evidence that the command is processed. The
command is just a simple TOUCH to create a file in the /root directory.
That was a suggestion on how to test CRON offered by another on this
forum in a previous post. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
