I'm sure a lot of you are aware that Netware had a way to disable
broadcasts, which OES linux doen't currently have. I'd like to turn off
broadcasts, and some research has turned up a way to do it (below). If I
configure iptables to drop traffic on 524, won't that screw up
eDirectory's ability to communicate (it uses 524)? Thanks,
c

You can always block outgoing NCP traffic with an iptables script...
#!/bin/sh
iptables -A OUTPUT -o eth0 -p tcp --dport 524 -j BLOCK

##END SCRIPT###
you can put that in a file then change the permissions on the file to
executable by root with

chmod 700 file

then run the file...

Outside of that, i dont know any other way to disable the broadcasts...

-scz
