Hi Novell Forum Readers,

We have started experiencing server lockups which prevents keyboard/mouse
commands from being actioned - and the monitor also fails. This leads to
server being powered off and on.

OES service pack 2 with rug updates from April have been applied and no
changes to the servers have been.

We tried rebooting the servers using CTRL+ALT+DEL and accessing a virtual
session CTRL+ALT+F1 but both fail. A remote putty session also fails
through SSH (where I attempt to issue a shutdown -r now command).

My question is, aside from investigating the root cause of the lockups -
is there another way of rebooting OES Linux servers in a controlled
manner? If not, are there any additional steps I need to take when a
server has been powered off and on?

Thank you all.
