I am experimenting with configuring NIC bonding on an OES SP2 Linux box with
dual Intel gigabit NICs. I found an excellent posting by Mark Robinson from
February of last year which told me how to setup/create the ifcfg files.
Unfortunately, when I do an rcnetwork start or reboot, I get an "Interface
bond0 is not available" message.

First question: What am I missing here? I looked at the
/usr/src/linux-2.6.5-7.244/Documentation/networking/bonding.txt file, and it
says something about "Building the kernel with the bonding driver", but this
document is from circa 2000.

Second question: I recall reading and/or hearing somewhere that NICs
configured with a bonding driver have issues with eDirectory. Is this true
and current?

Thanks for any input.
