I am wondering if anyone has any experience with whether or not enabling
dual-core in a servers BIOS helps performance. While I was looking into
an issue we have with a NW5.1 server, in which Novell recommended
disabling Hyper-Threading, I came across some article that reference
logical processors. Our new Dell PowerEdge 830 NW6.5 servers currently
have logical processors enabled in the BIOS (which at this point I assume
is the same as dual-core) and even though we have not yet had similar
issues with them, I am wondering whether it would improve performance to
disable this feature. According to what I read Hyper-Threading and Dual-
Core is only benefical when the server is maxed out, and even then it
slows down I/O operations.

Does anyone have any comments/experience on this?
