I know that this isn't how it's supposed to work; I expect multiple users
on a network to be able to open (read-only) copies of the same file. This
doesn't happen on mine at work. The second opened instance of a single
file won't open and the application is locked while it fruitlessly tries to
do so. Shutting the first instance frees the second to open.

This doesn't happens on all directories but I can't tell what if anything
differentiates those that do from those that don't. The network is Netware
6. On a smaller Windows 2003 part of the network this never happens...

This is relatively new behaviour but I can't work out what has changed to
trigger it.

What's going wrong?
