Hello, and thanks in advance for any advice.

I adminster a 2-node cluster deparmental server running Netware 6.0 SP5 on a
large university LAN. The servers are connected to a Dell PowerVault SAN
external drive array. This configuration has been running for two years.

Recently, the Windows XP PCs have had some serious problems with slow file
reads from the server. A 26 MB file will write in under a minute, but
opening or copying the same file to the PC from the SAN is very slow, up to

Level 2 oplocks and client file caching are disabled on the servers and
caching is disabled in the client as well. I've tried going back to NW
client 4.90sp2
on the .

I just checked the NIC in Monitor and there are over 494,000 collisions and
is increasing as I watch. I just check with our network group and the switch
still hard coded 100/full as is the server.

Any ideas as to what could be causing the collisions other than speed/duplex

I will try bringing down the primary server as the secondary doesn't have
any collisions.
