Hello,

I am new to Novell.

I recently set up SLP on our network. The set up is very basic:
- DEFAULT SLP on one server.
- DA IPV4, X.X.X.X on the other servers. File: SYS:\ETC\SLP.CFG, etc, etc.

Once the configuration was finished I did a SLPINFO /d from one of the Win
XP workstations. The output was the following:

######################

C:\>SLPINFO /d

************************************************** ***
*** Novell Client for Windows NT ***
*** Service Location Diagnostics ***
************************************************** ***

SLP Version: 4.91.0.1
SLP Start Time: 8:32:55am 9/25/2006
Last I/O: 8:33:14am 9/25/2006
Total Packets: Out: 42 In: 26
Total Bytes: Out: 3530 In: 3251

DA IP Address Source(s) State Version Local Interface Scope(s)
--------------- --------- ----- ------- --------------- --------

192.168.2.9 MCST UP SLPV2 192.168.2.65 DEFAULT

#########################

I am wondering whether the workstations are benefitting from the SLPDA.
Should the "Source(s)" informaiton say "DHCP" instead of mcst?

Is there a way to push down the SLPDA to the clients via DHCP? If so, how
can this be configured? Also, what are the advantages of pushing down the
SLPDA via DHCP?? Are there any problems that I should look out for??.

Any recommendation, or advice is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

sorbedocs.
