Hi,
I've researched Novell and other posts regarding this issue but haven't
found a solution yet.

Background: One Netware 6 SP5 server running IPX and IP. Win XP
clients running IP with Novell client 4.91 sp2 (some may be slightly
older). SLP is configured. NDS structure under KV_Tree is:

O=KV
|__OU=CREDIT
|__OU=HR
|__OU=IS
|__ .. etc for departmental OU's

O=KV contains a common login script for all users. Each departmental
OU has a login script which immediately includes the O=KV login script
(INCLUDE .KV) then maps a shared departmental drive based on their OU.

For the past few months, some users experience delays running the
Novell login script. This delay can last 1 to 1.5 minutes. It does
not occur every time, even on the same PC. Usually the login script
will run in a few seconds, other times this stall will occur. There
are no errors during this time and once the login script continues,
it'll run successfully. If the problem was actually with the login
script itself, I would think the delay would occur every time, but this
is not the case.

Putting in Write statements, I found the delay to occur in the O=KV
login script, a portion of which is copied below. The delay always
occurs after the execution of the WRITE "Mapping system drives" and
before the WRITE "Mapping user drives", so the problem seems to be with
the MAP ROOT INS of Sys:Public and/or Sys:Login. See appropriate
portion of O=KV login script below:

WRITE "Starting KV login script"
rem MAP DISPLAY OFF
MAP DISPLAY ON
MAP ERRORS ON
NO_DEFAULT

WRITE "Mapping system drives"
rem *** Map standard search drives ***
MAP ROOT INS S16:=FS_KV1\SYS:PUBLIC
MAP ROOT INS S16:=FS_KV1\SYS:LOGIN

WRITE "Mapping user drives"
IF MEMBER OF ".N_DRIVE_MAP.IS.KV" THEN BEGIN
MAP ROOT N:=FS_KV1\USER:HOME
END

Are there any logs related to the Novell login process that can provide
further information to troubleshoot this problem? Any other
suggestions for debugging this?

Is it possible that my login script is corrupt in some way that's not
visible.

Thanks
Jim
